We offer a restricted key system that eliminates unauthorized key duplication. Our residential and commercial locksmiths install lock hardware at your home or business, including deadbolts, doorjamb protection and electronic/push button locks. Another one of our specialties is access control; we can help you find the right system to meet your needs. Safes are another area we specialize in, whether you're looking to purchase a safe or need a qualified technician to service your safe. Our technicians can also open your safe if you've lost your combination or key. We even offer emergency lockout services, whether you're locked out of your home, office or vehicle.

I've lost a copy of my house key, should I replace or rekey my locks?

Accepted Answer

It's always a good idea to rekey your locks if you can't account for all your keys or if you've just moved into a new home or business. Lock rekeying rather than replacement is applicable if all your locks are in good working condition. When we rekey your locks, we change the inside pins to fit a new key so the old key no longer works.

Or if you're interested in being able to see who is accessing your business and at what time, an access control system with an audit trail can produce time stamped reports. Access control systems are able to be programmed to restrict access in a way that is safe, secure and convenient with the use of keypad entry, proximity, fobs or identification cards.

What is a transponder key?

A transponder key contains an embedded device that communicates with your onboard computer, enabling the vehicle to start. Without the embedded device, the vehicle will not start. This is an anti-theft precaution that vehicle manufacturers are installing in most new model vehicles. We are able to tell you if your model vehicle has a transponder, and we can duplicate and program most transponder keys.

Why should I get my keys duplicated at a locksmith rather than a hardware store or big box store?

Locksmiths are in the business of making keys and use machines that are generally of a higher quality. They are kept calibrated like they should be to provide you with a key that's as close to your original as possible. Locksmiths also have the ability to cut factory original keys if your key is badly worn, broken or cracked. Hardware stores and big box stores do not have this capability.

We offer digital keypad deadbolts that offer multiple codes; this not only gives you the ability to enter without a key but also gives you the ability to assign different codes to different people that can be added or deleted at your convenience. If you're not ready to go keyless, we also offer mountable key boxes that can be secured to your home.

Stamping a key “do not duplicate” is merely a deterrent, and most locksmiths and hardware stores will still duplicate the key. The only way to secure duplication is through a restricted key system.
